My first blog post ever

This is my new blog for my business Mexican Moon Imports and a place to write about my interests, thoughts, travel experiences and frustrations.

I built my website last summer using Prostores all-in-one e-commerce solution. I chose Prostores because it is an ebay company and figured it had to be good with the ebay name behind it and all. Boy was I wrong! I have lived with my mistake since last March. I am not a web developer or designer and Prostores claimed to have an easy to use wizard to create your store. I struggled for three months of cutting and pasting HTML code and calling Prostores tech support to get what you see there today. Their basic and advanced HTML editor is broken so the only way for me to customize my template was by editing the source code which took a lot of trial and error. For now I will be keeping the store as is until I figure out my next step. The good things about my site are that it is 100% functional and that it is easy to use.

During the past few weeks have been trying to get more traffic to my site to increase my online sales. I have added campaigns with Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing and have seen very few positive results. I also submitted my site to dmoz.org a few weeks ago but it still hasn't been listed. There is not a way to find out what the status is or if you have been rejected. Frustrating!

If you have any good, free ideas that will help my online business traffic please let me know! I think I either have to take an SEO class or read a good SEO book.

I own the following devices and can share my experiences with you if you like:

Linksys WCG200 Cable Modem/ Wireless Router (good device, just don't let Comcast mess with the firmware)

Apple Airport Express (good device but has many stability problems interfacing with Itunes, I use it as a wireless print server and to stream music to my stereo)

Linksys RT31P2-VD router for Vonage (pretty good device with 2 phone jacks for VOIP through Vonage)

LG VX8300 (Excellent phone through Verizon Wireless, I bought a 1gig Micro SD Card and LG headphones and use it as my MP3 player, I love this phone)

Garmin Etrex Legend GPS hand held unit (hard to use, no slot for additional memory)

Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop (very buggy and unstable computer, horrible tech support, DON'T BUY DELL)

There will be more posts to come later. On Saturday I have a sale at Brookline Healthworks. In two weeks I will be going on vacation with an old friend to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I can't wait!! We are going to go mountain biking, hiking and native American ruin hopping!
